Since childhood I have been intrigued with ancient Egypt, so this novel by Kyla Merwin immediately caught my attention. I eagerly anticipated armchair time travel and vicarious adventure. But this book was so much more, wildly exceeding my expectations on so many levels. The author explores the moral ambiguities of the origins of religion and how what we are taught to be the whole truth is quite likely to be only a small piece of the puzzle, with so much hidden and destroyed throughout history for very ungodly reasons of satisfying human lust for social and political control. The lines between sacred and human become blurred, with truth a constantly moving target. The relationship between the main characters was complicated, riveting and raw. The journey of self discovery by these flawed but honorable friends was heartbreaking and healing. The author’s compassionate exploration of loyalty, trust, loss, longing and betrayal breathed reality and humanity into her characters. I found myself reading chapter after chapter, long into the night, greedy to discover the next astonishing twist and turn in this exciting adventure. This book entertained me, but also made me think and question long held “truths”. I was sad when I reached the last chapter. Kyla Merwin has written a a profoundly good novel.Product details

The Lost Codex of the Christian Heretics edition by Kyla Merwin Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What a great entertaining book. Loved the characters. Full of exciting action. I can not wait to read more with these characters.
Set in the 1940's, a few years after WWII & before a major development in the Mideast, Merwin weaves a thrilling tale of love, intrigue, greed, loss and redemption for a handful of colorful characters. I was hooked from the beginning and was sad when I finished it a week later, because I wanted more! Maybe there will be Volume 2? I talked about this book so much, several of my friends have picked it up and are thanking me!
!Had a good review written and it deleated itself! Just as you should deleat this book from your reading list
A must-read for fans of Dan Brown's series of suspense novels, as well as fans of historical fiction. This story about the Christian heretics, deliberately buried in obscurity, reveals 2000 years of secrecy, intrigue, treachery and resolve known only to a few. What was once the obsession of scholars, is now a captivating saga for all of us. What some authorities would have you think never existed, is revealed to be a lie of millennia, now revealed and not to be denied again.
In pursuit of secret knowledge, the strong female protagonist, Katherine Spencer, steps out of the conventions of the 1940s. She is drawn beyond her control into a malestrom of events that threaten her marriage and her confidence in the future, while it reignites a long-dormant bond with a former lover.
Story starts off like many, gathers strength with character backgrounds.
Could not put it down for long!
Recommended for everyone who enjoys a good story.
I absolutely loved this book! I found it intriguing and fascinating on so many levels. The book is full of suspense and surprise, the descriptions of scene and setting are incredibly vivid, and the characters are truly memorable. In addition, anyone with an interest in history and/or religion will love how Kyla Merwin weaves intriguing references to historical events and characters, as well as thought provoking questions and ideas about religion and the spiritual experience, throughout the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were intriguing and the plot was suspenseful. It was a good love story and it also showed
realistic emotions. The author's research into lives, religion, tradition, history, language, and locale was incredible! The Lost Codex made me
wonder about the control of the church in the way we become Godly. The ending left me with a good feeling that all was well.
